IJ Start Canon Pixma TS3100 Set Up-The Pixma Canon TS3100 Wireless Inkjet All-in-One is one of very few Inkjet printers with the difference between the list price of sub-$80 (and its street price of $49.99 means you can buy it for less than $50, making it all the more unique). Not only is this one of the least expensive user-grade photos in one printer (AIO) that we have recently reviewed, it is also one of the smallest, slowest and shortest on features. As the 3755 HP desk, the TS3100 is designed for families and households that make very little printing and copying — a type of ‘ when-you-need-it ‘ device.
The next-year TS-series model, Canon TS5020, measures about four inches more widely and is almost twice as heavy. In addition, Canon TS5020 uses five inks, while the TS3100 uses only four, making the first a better choice for printing photographs.
It is important to note that each of these entry-level printers increases significantly in depth and height with their input and output trays being used. The TS3100, for example, increases from 12.5 inches in length to 21.8 inches, and 3755 HP extends upwards by about 5 inches and is extended by over 10 inches. Nonetheless, most fit comfortably on the average desktop, and the TS3100 (and its competitors) are intended to close easily, taking as little space as possible while they are not in service.
Another unobvious one is that the Pixma TS3100 is a low-volume printer, instead of using separate print cartridges for each of its four inks (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and UK, or CMYK), it uses only two. One tank holds the BLACK ink, the other three colours. Not only are these types of ink cartridges holding less ink than separate cartridges, but with the three-ink coloured ink tank, the cartridge must be renovated when any of the three reservoirs empties — regardless of the amount of ink left in the other two reservoirs. In other words, the tri-ink tanks are often wasteful.
In addition to the entry-level ink system, the small paper handling capacity TS3100’s of paper 1 60 ‘s tray on a sheet only, relative to the trays of Canon TS5020’s and TS9120’s 2 100-sheet, will place it securely in the entry-level column. The HP 3755, on the other hand, also holds 60 sheets of paper only, and the EPSON XP-440single Tray holds up to 100 sheets.
The TS3100’s paper tray can also be configured to hold up to 20 sheets of 4-in-6-inch premium photo paper, and up to 10 sheets of 5-by-7-inch photo paper, which are about the same as the other models mentioned here. However, the TS3100 does not support photo paper exceeding 5 at 7 inches; You can’t print 8-by-10-inch pictures from the centre, for example, much smaller sizes.
Like the HP 3755, the TS3100 cannot automatically print two-sided pages (auto-Duplein) either. You have to turn your documents over yourself to print on the other side. The EPSON XP-440 can print two-sided pages without hand support. However, you will probably not print many large documents, but this should not be such an inconvenience.
Instead of a touch screen as a tablet with icons that act as shortcuts for establishing and operating various functions and workflow profiles, the TS3100 comes with an entry-level control Panel consisting of several buttons and a monochrom ” Segment “1.5 inch LCD. You use the Panel primarily for setting up and monitoring roles, making copies, setting the size and type of paper, and so on. Most interactions will be either through your computer or a mobile device. The printing or scanning of cloud sites, for example, is installed and operated from your smartphone or tablet through one of Canon’s mobile apps.
Since the TS3100 is at the bottom of the order for the Pixma-TS-Series Canon, it has the smallest connectivity options. Standard connectivity includes Wi-Fi and connects to one PC via USB. You will also find a wireless PictBridge for printing from certain canoe cameras, including some dedicated digital video cameras. All four other TS-Series models also come with Bluetooth, and Canon TS9120 supports ether-net. The features of movable connectivity, though thinner than on its higher siblings, include a print canoe app, a wireless scanning, and a Cloud Link pixma for, well, connecting to various popular cloud sites, as well as the canoe’s own cloud file repository.
Given that TS-Series are primarily designed for working with photographs, the TS3100’s software bundle consists mainly of utilities for scanning, improving, correcting, controlling and printing pictures. In addition to the drivers for the engine itself, you will also be provided with the canoe scanning service, a scanning interface that is of reasonable assistance, given the price and scope of the AIO; Main installation, for printer configuration and monitoring; My printer network tool, for managing the TS3100 on your wireless network; My image garden, a collection of improvement and precision filters, such as drawing red eyes and growing crops with images; and a few others. And finally, there is a quick menu, which resides in the bottom right-hand corner of your monitor and contains a set of shortcuts to most of the software and hardware features.
Although the Canon Pixma TS3100 is not the Slosest printer for me to see recently, it is not far behind. The Canon rates the TS3100 at 7.7 page per minute (ppm); At 5.5ppm, only the HP 3755 has a slower score. When printing our 12-page, lightly-formatted monochrom on a Microsoft Word document, the TS3100 is stied out 4.8ppm, compared to 4.3ppm of the HP 3755. Alternatively, the TS3100 fell behind the EPSON XP-440 by about 3.5ppm, and Canon TS5020 and TS6120 by about 8ppm. The Canon itself Pixma G2200 MegaTank All-in-One, one of the Supertank models of that company being ink from lean bottles, instead of cartridges, produces our text document in 2.3ppm faster than the TS3100.
When I combined the results from the printing of our more complex PowerPoint, Excel and Acrobat documents that included colour, graphics and photographs with the results from the previous Word document test, the score dropped TS3100’s to 2.1ppm, or about 1 page every 30 seconds. Here again, it was more than just the HP 3755 (1.4ppm), but none of the AIOs in this group was on top of 5ppm, or 10 seconds per page. Pixma TS5020 and TS6120 Canon performed best, about 4.7ppm. None of these AIOs based on a user scale drawing is well suited for producing more than about 50 business document pages per month.

However, where many of them excel in printing 4-by-6-inch (and 5-ar-7-inch) snapshots. For granted, TS3100’s’r average print time of 1 minute 4 seconds is not great, but his superior brothers and sisters (the TS5020 and TS6120) managed to print the same pages in about 20 seconds in our tests. Typically, if the driver’s quality is set to a high or the best level, a printing time of less than 1 minute is quite good.
Better quality of output than expected
You can’t expect a grade-user photo printer in four inks to produce an output that looks better than the same six ink, especially when printing photos. But let us look at the output of text TS3100’s first. Her text came out in good shape, well-outlined, and extremely readable down to well under 10 points in our text document tests, making it more than suitable for most family, student or home Office tasks. Business charts and graphs and other coloured graphics are also well printed. The only problem I saw was on a dark-green-to-black gradient designed specifically for the testing of printer probes for banding. There was a marked banding on this full-page background fill, but it was nowhere near unsightly than it could not be reused.
The TS3100 prints well-looking photographs, too. They were bright, brilliant and meticulous images — images that, I believe, most foldsspeakers would be more than happy about. However, when I examined the output of the TS3100’s picture alongside the same images from Canon’s five-ink map, Pixma TS6120 or six-ink TS9120, as well as a small EPSON XP-640 five-ink phrases premium in one, I saw a noticeable difference in quality. The colours were particularly bright, better saturated, and good… An excuse, and the content itself was better detailed on the five-and six-ink AIOs.
Cost per photo
Apart from optimised models for an HP drawing using that company’s instant subscription program, such as Mon Envision 7855, most consumer grade picture printers have high running costs, especially compared to their counterparts. Office-oriented. Then again, most printers in this price range — which take pictures centrally or otherwise — have the high printing costs of the page.
As such, the cost of TS3100’s 8.7 per cent per MONCROM page and 18.7 cents for colour pages is far from consistent with its competitors. The colour cost of the HP for each page (CPP) is higher than the TS3100‘s by 0.3 percent, and the CPP monochrom is the same.
