Canon MAXIFY GX7020 Driver Download

Canon MAXIFY GX7020 Driver Download– The Canon Maxify GX7020 delivers many capabilities, but its main claim to fame is its small size.

Its refillable ink tanks provide a significantly lower cost-per-page than any competing laser model, making them significantly cheaper in the long run—assuming you print enough to take advantage of the savings.

The much faster and slightly larger Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5850 remains our Editors’ Choice for mid-range color AIO, but if you need a printer with 600 pages and don’t have much space, the GX7020 might be a good fit.

Lots of Drops in the Bucket

The main strength of the GX7020—and its smaller sibling, the Canon Maxify GX6020 is the money-per-day savings that can make a lot of money over time. For example, the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw ($599) is much cheaper.

The GX7020 is also not lacking in features. If you link to a network via Ethernet, Wi-Fi Direct is disabled, but you can still print from a phone or tablet on the same network over Wi-Fi.

Like all AIOs, it can scan to a PC and function as a standalone copier and fax machine; it’s also fax, which the GX6020 does not. A USB Type-A port lets you print and scan to a USB memory key.

Paper handling is another strong point. The GX7020 has two 250-sheet letter-sized drawers and a rear tray with 100 sheets of legal-size paper, letterhead, labels, and other occasional use stock.

The automatic document feeder (ADF) on the letter-size flatbed holds 50 or ten legal-size sheets and can scan both sides of each page simultaneously.

If you set up the printer on an organization associated with the web, you can print from and output to cloud envelopes utilizing the printer’s LCD contact screen.

I found the 2.7-inch screen a piece squeezed yet usable. Ordinance Pixma/Maxify Cloud Link offers around twelve connections, including Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, OneNote, Box, and Evernote.

There are multiple ways of sending output as an email; examining and shipping off another web-associated printer is likewise a choice. There’s even a connection for Google Classroom, which can be valuable for understudies and instructors.

Standard says the printer has restricted help for mechanization with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and plans to extend usefulness after some time.

It’s Hard to Spill Ink

Setting up the GX7020 is mostly straightforward, although the software installation has a few quirks. Weighing 28.6 pounds and only 12.4 by 16.2 by 15.8 inches (HWD), this printer is light enough for most people to move unaided.

That’s not true of its direct competitors other than the GX6020, which is a few inches shorter (because it only has one paper drawer) and weighs a few pounds less.

Most of the physical settings are standard, except for the ink. The GX7020 achieves a low cost per page by supplying ink in bottles instead of cartridges and providing a large tank for pouring it.

This is the same approach that both Epson printers use and the main reason all three AIOs share similar cost-per-page claims.

The GX7020 ships with a complete set of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks, plus two additional bottles of black. The black tank holds only one ink bottle, but the assumption is that you will print more pages with black text than color.

The replacement bottles are rated for 6,000 images (with one image on each side of the duplex page) for a bottle of black ink ($27.99) and a collective 14,000 images for each set of cyan, yellow, and magenta ($32.99 for each bottle).

When I hear “ink bottles,” I tend to reach for latex gloves and paper towels, but that’s not necessary with the GX7020. If you follow the directions, the ink won’t start flowing until the bottle is positioned properly, and I didn’t spill a drop even when I removed each emptied bottle from the top of the tank.

Installing the software requires downloading from the Canon website. The process is pretty straightforward, but after downloading, the on-screen instructions say I have to click on a link to open a page with more apps.

The link takes me to a page to subscribe to an ink purchase plan, and I need to call tech support to confirm that I have all the software I should have. Canon says this is due to misleading instructions and broken links, which are expected to be fixed quickly.

I also found that registering a printer for Canon’s Pixma/Maxify Cloud Link wasn’t as easy as expected, but I got through it without any problems.

Testing the Printer

Output quality for text, graphics, and photos are all at the top end of the inkjet AIO range. Text on plain paper is very sharp and easy to read even at 4 points, making it difficult to distinguish from laser output except if there is a propensity to smear a piece after I put a couple of drops of water on it.

Full-page graphics tend to leave the paper feeling damp immediately after printing; once dry, color ink performs better than black ink in resisting smudges from wet fingers.

Good Choice for Tight Place

If you have enough room for a larger and heavier printer than the GX7020, be sure to consider the HP M479fdw, which is faster and can be expanded with an optional paper tray for up to 850 sheets.

If you’re more concerned with running costs than paper capacity, the cost per page of the ET-5850 and ET-5880 is just as low and much faster than the GX7020, although neither is as fast as the M479fdw.

That said, the Canon Maxify GX7020’s small size and light weight make it especially suitable for homes and small offices with tight spaces, need to print up to 120 pages or more per day, and count low running costs as a key requirement. Three-year warranty of 80,000 pages adds to its value.

If you want a smaller AIO and can settle for a lower paper capacity, somewhat lower scan capabilities, and no faxing, you should consider the Canon Maxify GX6020. Otherwise, the Canon Maxify GX7020 might be in your Goldilocks zone, literally and figuratively the best fit.
